DePaola, T. (1983). The legend of the bluebonnet. New York, NY: Penguin Putnam Books for Young Readers. She-Who-Is-Alone is a small girl of Comanche descent who sacrifices her most prized possession, a small doll , to save her people from drought and famine. DePaola uses lines to create mood and color to convey emotion and symbolism. I would use this book in a lesson for cause and effect.
